At the recent meeting the Chairman and members expressed their appreciation to the members of The Town Council who delivered the new issue of the Burgh directory “What's On and How To Get There” to their wards, but were concerned that some areas had not been delivered. If you have not received your copy they are available from any committee member or at the Post Office or Library.

The directory has been very well received

Cultural Programme : We are pleased to report that the London Mozart Players have now got a long term future in the area and look forward to further concerts in Burgh in the future.

The Burgh Forward Voluntary Car Group is kept busy; all drivers are fully approved authorised badge holders under the County Council's approved scheme and are equipped with child seats.

Burgh Trades Council : The committee will be monitoring the effect of the bypass on trade as the season progresses. It was decided that before the AGM in October to circulate the 80 members of the Trades Council with a questionnaire to receive their response on the impact of the bypass on their businesses and also any ideas for further promotion of Burgh.

It was reported that members were concerned that the lack of parking was restricting trade and requested the Forward Group to press for a reveiw of parking now the through traffic has gone with a view to removing some of the restrictions. Now that the town Council is pursuing the establishment of a street market it was felt that this issue needed some urgency.

The Forward Group felt the bypass was having a positive effect for the community and would be pleased to receive any suggestions, comments or ideas that would help to further the well being of Burgh le Marsh.

Carnival time is coming to Burgh and the Dodsworth Shields awarded annually for The Best Kept Garden, Best Hanging Baskets, and Best floral decorations of Commercial Premises will be judged during the week commencing 30 th June with the winning presentations on Carnival Day Saturday 5 th July. Chairman Jim Dodsworth initiated this event to assist in Burgh's attractiveness for The Best Kept Village annual competition.
